Deirdre obtained a BSc Hons degree in Osteopathy in 2000 which she obtained form the London School of Osteopathy. The degree has a strong emphasis on musculoskeletal medicine. She is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
Osteopathic techniques will aim to restore the symmetry of your body to within healthy limits, this helps to relieve stress on joints and tissues so the mechanics of the joints and the circulatory system and other systems are free to function better.
All osteos are registered with the General Osteopathic Council who regulates osteopathy in the UK and sets and maintain standards.
All osteopaths work differently and with a different style the best thing to do is find someone whose approach suits you.
Non invasive techniques influence the physiology to promote and trigger the natural built in healing process inherent in the body.
Osteopathy is a system of manual medicine that focuses primarily on the musculoskeletal system and other systems of the body such as the circulatory system and the nervous system to create the correct conditions to aid healing in the body.
Osteopaths use a wide range of techniques from specific soft tissue techniques to high velocity thrusts (manipulation that may cause a cracking sound) to very gentle but deep and far reaching ‘cranial’ techniques.
This cranial approach is usually used on babies and children however is extremely beneficial for all ages and conditions and especially useful for relieving tension in muscles and joints that may build up due to psychological stress.
